A Strong Start Together

When her baby arrived early, this new mother found herself facing more than the usual challenges of caring for a newborn. Her infant was born prematurely with a congenital tongue-tie, making breastfeeding especially difficult. As a Spanish-speaking parent navigating an unfamiliar healthcare system, the experience quickly became overwhelming.

With support from LifeWorks, she didn’t have to face it alone.

Through a collaboration between our WIC and Immigrant Services teams, she received personalized, culturally responsive care every step of the way. With interpretation support and guidance in her native language, she was able to better understand her baby’s needs and her own options. She received hands-on coaching with breastfeeding techniques, learned how to use a breast pump, and gained confidence in safely storing breastmilk.

Just as importantly, she had someone to turn to as she navigated medical referrals for her baby’s upcoming procedure. During a time filled with uncertainty and anxiety, she found a trusted support system.

Today, she feels more confident in caring for her child and advocating for their needs because a team came together to ensure she was seen, heard, and supported.

Your support of LifeWorks makes stories like this possible. It helps create a network of care that empowers families to overcome challenges and build healthier futures.
